Training the next Generation of Change makers.

Let’s Do It Ghana, an environmental Non-Governmental Organization partnered with Reusable Bags GH to train 10 young talents (9 females and 1 male) in producing reusable bags as a way of reducing the use of plastics and protecting the environment.

To boost the skills of these young people, equipment such as sewing machines, irons, scissors and other accessories were given to participants to help them start small on their own while earning income for themselves through the skill they have acquired. The five-day intensive training also focused on equipping participants on how to start and expand a business as well as how to build good relationships with customers.

In attendance were Mrs. Kate Opoku, the Country Lead of Let’s Do It Ghana, and Mr. Bismark Osiakwa, the Founder and Manager of Reusable Bags GH and the lead trainer Miss.Bridget Korto. Mrs. Opoku indicated that the training was part of a project dubbed, “Community for Plastic Reduction and Recycling” which was launched by the NGO in July 2022.

The project is aimed at reducing plastic waste littering and discouraging the use of single-use plastics. Let’s Do It Ghana has been sensitizing community members, market women and shoppers to switch from using single-use plastics, especially polythene bags, to reusable alternatives such as tote bags.

Mr. Bismark Osiakwa lauded the NGO for its initiative in reducing plastic pollution – a vision that Reusable Bags GH gladly embraced as it also seeks to do the same by 2030.

Let’s adopt the use of reusable bags in place of single-use plastics and save our environment.
